Welcome aboard The Spirit of the Sea, the ghostly cruise ship that is the setting for this immersive virtual Halloween murder mystery.

This isn’t just your average online team building game — it’s a thrilling, theatrical, and puzzle-packed murder mystery experience that will have your team bonding, laughing and getting into the Halloween spirit.

In this live-hosted virtual experience, you and your team will play the role of undercover officers trying to solve the murder of infamous pirate Captain Boris Blackwater. As well as solving the crime, teams will be scored on their crime-solving abilities so at the end we’ll know who the ultimate detectives are.

Hosted by the ‘genius’ Chief Detective Poirwrote, you’ll work in teams of 3-8 people to analyze suspect interviews, crack the puzzles and ultimately solve the crime.

Along the way, you’ll:

–> Examine the crime scene and decode evidence
–> Meet four themed suspects: a brooding werewolf gym bro, a ghostly ex-wife, a scheming witch CEO, and the Captain’s salty first mate
–> Solve location-based puzzles, decipher morse code, unlock laptops, and piece together the truth
–> Compete with other teams in a race to solve the case and earn your promotion to fully-fledged Detectives

The “Mystery On The Ghost Ship” Storyline….

Officers, we’ve been summoned aboard “The Spirit of the Sea,” a haunted luxury cruise ship famed for its ghostly glamor and cursed clientele. On its final Halloween voyage, legendary pirate captain Boris Blackwater has been found dead in his office. The killer must be one of four fiendish suspects: Igor Moanswell, the brooding zombie First Mate; Lilian Le Strange, a wealthy witch and ship sponsor; Vincent Von Howl, a werewolf influencer with a grudge; and Scarlett O’Scara, Boris’s vengeful ghost of a wife. We have just 50 minutes to uncover the truth before the ship docks and the killer disappears forever.

OUR STANDARD EVENT FORMAT:

–> You’ll be welcomed by your host “Chief Detective Poirwrote”, who’ll introduce the mystery and set the scene aboard The Spirit of the Sea.
–> We’ll split your group into teams of 3-8 people to collaborate on challenges throughout the event.
–> Across 4 rounds, you’ll meet each of the four suspects, explore different parts of the ship, and complete different tasks.
–> After each round, you’ll reconvene to share insights, see your progress, and build your case.
–> At the end, each team will submit their final verdict and we’ll reveal the killer in a dramatic finale.

• Q: What platform is this experience run on? A: We run this experience on Zoom as standard, but we can also run on MS Teams, Google Meets & Webex. (Some restrictions may apply).
• Q: Can we run this experience on our own meeting link? A: We usually run this online Halloween murder mystery on our own event link and will send you the link for you to share with your guests after you book. But, if you prefer, we can also run this on your own company event link.
• Q: Is this event hosted? A: Yes, our Ghost Ship Mystery team building challenge is hosted by a live host playing the role of Chief Detective Poirwrote. Depending on the size of your event there will also be 1-5 Avva Event Technicians running the tech side of your event.
• Q: Do we need to prepare anything ahead of the event? A: No, your guests just turn up and enjoy this virtual Halloween mystery.
• Q: Is this experience suitable for global audiences? A: Yes, we design the content of our virtual team building challenges to be suitable for global audiences.
• Q: Can we select the teams? A: For groups under 50 teams can either be random or selected by you. For groups over 50 this is done randomly.
• Q: How much of the experience is spent in breakout rooms? A: About 25% of the virtual Halloween mystery is spent in breakout rooms with your teams discussing and analysing the puzzles. The remaining 75% is spent all together as an entire group.
• Q: Can this experience work for hybrid groups? A: Yes, this online Halloween murder mystery game is suitable for fully remote and hybrid groups.
• Q. Should we come dressed in a costume? A: As you will be playing the role of undercover police onboard a Halloween themed cruise ship, costumes are highly encouraged (but not mandatory).
• Q. Is the content suitable for corporate events and families? A: Yes, this game has been developed for corporate events. The content is also family friendly with no violent scenes, graphics or adult language. This experience is all about having some Halloween fun!
